QO RACE Light
A complete lightweight carbon road crankset built for climbing, accelerating and creating a clean-looking bike. Our own 571 g measurement in 165 mm / 50-34 highlights its compelling combination of weight and finish.
Fast road riding, mountain climbs or gravel adventures: QO Bike combines Mitsubishi Pyrofil carbon crank arms, precision machining and a design you can recognise at a glance. Choose what matters most to you: low weight, aerodynamic integration or the freedom to venture beyond the tarmac.
Created by the original founders of Rotor, QO Bike brings a fresh approach to the carbon bicycle crankset. Its distinctive dimpled crank arms, refined finishes and 28.99 mm spindle give the brand a clear identity. The technology is sophisticated, but the choice is straightforward: lightweight road, aero road or single-chainring gravel.

A more enclosed outer chainring face, aero chainrings even in 50/34, and unmistakable carbon crank arms. A natural fit for fast road riding, racing and triathlon.

A carbon gravel crankset designed for rough tracks and gravel racing: 1x Direct Mount chainring, KevTex-reinforced crank arms and your choice of chainring size to suit the terrain.
The QO RACE Light and RACE Aero share carbon crank construction, a 28.99 mm spindle and lengths from 160 to 175 mm. Their main differences lie in the spider and chainring design.
QO states that its road cranksets are compatible with Shimano and SRAM 11- and 12-speed drivetrains. With 52/36 or 54/40 chainrings on certain SRAM AXS groupsets, also check the front derailleur height and capacity. These combinations are not necessarily official SRAM factory configurations.

The QO GRAVA uses a 1x Direct Mount chainring design especially suited to gravel riding. KevTex reinforcement protects exposed areas of the carbon crank arms against the impacts and debris encountered off-road.
QO claims 478 g for the complete 170 mm crankset with a 40-tooth chainring. Beyond the low weight, we appreciate the clean assembly, chainring design and choice of 40, 42 or 44 teeth.
Our gearing advice: 40T for versatile, hilly riding, 42T for faster rolling courses, and 44T for especially fast gravel riding. Always take your cassette range into account as well.

These QO cranksets use a 28.99 mm spindle with the same diameter as SRAM DUB. If you are replacing a Shimano or GRX 24 mm crankset, you will usually need a different bottom bracket. Whether your frame is BSA, BB86, T47, BB386 or BBRight, its exact bottom bracket standard remains essential.
Velo-Perso recommends the appropriate Bikone DUB bottom brackets for your frame. A correctly specified steel-bearing model is already a reliable solution; ceramic bearings are not compulsory.
Find my compatible bottom bracket →Velo-Perso also stocks individual QO components for upgrading an existing setup. Choose the chainring sizes you prefer, replace worn components or put together a crankset that suits your own requirements.
Both feature carbon crank arms and a 28.99 mm spindle. RACE Light uses a lighter spider and chainring configuration, while RACE Aero focuses more on the shape and integration of the outer chainring. Choose according to your priority: lower weight or aerodynamic design.
Yes, on many bikes, after checking the frame and drivetrain. QO states that its RACE road cranksets are compatible with Shimano 11- and 12-speed drivetrains. GRAVA is intended for compatible 1x gravel setups. Replacing a Shimano 24 mm spindle with a QO 28.99 mm spindle generally requires a different bottom bracket.
No. “DUB” primarily describes the 28.99 mm spindle diameter. The bottom bracket standard and width must also match. QO specifies that GRAVA uses a non-Wide spindle and is not intended for PF92 / BB92 or BSA92 setups.
A 40T chainring offers versatile gearing for climbs, 42T suits faster rolling terrain, and 44T is aimed at high-speed gravel riding. Your cassette range and derailleur capacity also influence the ideal choice.
Power-meter pedals are the simplest solution. Certain spider-based power-meter setups may also be possible with compatible interfaces, but the exact combination of power meter, chainrings and chainline must be checked before purchase.
We like QO because the brand combines distinctive design, premium workmanship and genuinely relevant engineering. On the road, RACE Light and RACE Aero cater to two different priorities. For gravel, GRAVA adds a lightweight carbon 1x option without overlooking the demands of off-road riding.
At Velo-Perso, a crankset and drivetrain specialist since 2009, we focus on components that work together with your bicycle, groupset, riding style and preferred gearing. The best crankset is not simply the lightest one: it is the one that fits your drivetrain correctly.
