Time-Trial Cranksets (CLM)
In time-trial (CLM/ITT), your crankset directly impacts efficiency, aerodynamics, and cadence stability. Three key factors matter:
- Gearing tailored to your target speed.
- Optimized aerodynamic profile (low Cx) via aero crankset & chainrings.
- Power meter integration to dial-in effort precisely.
Time trials require sustained power with smooth pace control. A power meter helps you maintain your target output while maximizing gains from an aerodynamic big chainring. We offer 4 double-chainring cranksets optimized for time-trial:
Our 4 CLM Double Cranksets
Rotor Aldhu – Aero
- No power meter – lightweight, high rigidity.
- Aero chainrings up to 58t (double).
- Excellent performance/value for short–medium TTs.
Rotor Aldhu Carbon – Aero
- No power meter – ultra-light & ultra-aero.
- According to our tests, ideal for 250–500 W: comfortable, easy to spin, and rigid.
- For riders focused on pure speed.
Rotor INpower – Aero
- Single-leg power meter (axle), robust and protected.
- Aero chainrings for improved efficiency and pace consistency.
- Excellent accuracy/value ratio.
Rotor 2INpower SL – Aero
- Dual-leg measurement (left/right) with ultra precision.
- Torque and symmetry analysis for elite pacing.
- Designed for advanced optimization and time-trial goals.
Which gearing for TTs?
High-sprocket gearing is well-documented: many pros use 58–60t. Our double cranksets go up to 58t, while the single-chainring option reaches 60t where available. Choose based on your absolute power and preferred cadence (90–100 RPM).
Recommended gear pairs
- Regional club level: 54 or 55 (inner 42).
- Regional level: 55 or 56 (inner 44).
- National level: 56 (inner 44).
- Elite / Pro: 58 (inner 44) double, or 60 single depending on power and course.
For larger chainrings, a front derailleur cage extender may be needed (optional).
Single vs double — 2025 availability
In 2025, the single-chainring aero crankset is not yet available in 56 or 58t, which are highly sought after for optimal performance. By contrast, the Rotor double crankset lineup is complete, offering highly aerodynamic chainrings in 54, 55, 56, and 58t, covering nearly every TT need.
Q-rings option
The Qrings (12.5% ovality) reduce dead-spots, smooth torque delivery, and delay fatigue at threshold pace. They are especially effective in TTs, and are available up to 56/44 in our double configurations.
Why 165 mm crankarms for TTs?
A 165 mm crank improves aerodynamics via a more compact crankset (lower frontal area) and allows the rider to adopt a more competitive hip angle. This improves overall Cx (rider + bike). Ground clearance is irrelevant in TTs, unlike track racing.

Custom-built TT crankset for maximum efficiency
The highest performance comes from a crankset we design together: crankarm length, arm material (aluminum vs carbon), axle, bottom bracket, power-meter technology (if applicable), chainring shape and gearing. Every detail influences chainline, stiffness, aerodynamics, and your chosen cadence. In TTs, the crankset is one of the most crucial components for top performance.

FAQ – Time-Trial Cranksets
Aldhu or Aldhu Carbon for TTs?
Aldhu offers solid rigidity and excellent value. Aldhu Carbon, in our tests, is ideal if budget allows for the 250–500 W range: comfortable, easy to spin, and rigid.
Single vs double — TT availability in 2025?
In 2025, the single-chainring aero crank is not yet offered in 56 or 58t. For full coverage and best performance, the Rotor double cranksets offer highly aero chainrings in 54/55/56/58t.
Why choose 165 mm crankarms in TTs?
A 165 mm crank reduces frontal area and enables a more aerodynamic riding posture via a better hip angle, improving overall Cx. Ground clearance is a non-issue in TTs.
Does a custom TT crankset really improve efficiency?
Yes. Choosing together the axle, crankarm length & material, power-meter type (if any), chainring shape & gearing optimizes everything—from chainline to stiffness, aerodynamics, and cadence, yielding the best performance. Send us a WhatsApp message (icon bottom-left).
