Limitations Compared to Aldhu
The Rotor Vegast stands out for its versatility and affordability, but it does have a slight limitation compared to the Aldhu crankset in terms of available crank arm lengths. Unlike the Aldhu, specific lengths (150 mm, 155 mm, 160 mm, and 167.5 mm) are not available on the Vegast. The Vegast focuses on standard crank arm lengths: 165 mm, 170 mm, 172.5 mm, and 175 mm, which cover the needs of most cyclists.
Which Bottom Bracket to Pair with a Vegast Crankset?
For pairing with the Vegast crankset, it is often recommended to use a Rotor steel bottom bracket, which offers an excellent quality-to-price ratio and enhanced durability. For those seeking superior performance, a ceramic bottom bracket paired with a 30 mm axle is an ideal option, providing weight savings and improved drivetrain smoothness.

GearingSmall or large chainrings: unlock the crankset's potential
The best crankset is not the one with the largest outer ring. It is the one that lets you stay close to your efficient cadence on the roads you actually ride.
48/31 — climbing priority The largest safety margin for long or steep climbs. Pair it with a suitable cassette to preserve cadence late in a ride. 50/34 — all-round endurance A reassuring choice for mountains, long-distance riding and cyclists who never want to run out of easy gearing. 52/36 — sportive road An excellent compromise for fast flat riding, group rides and genuine climbing ability with an 11-34 or 11-36 cassette. 53/39 to 54/42 — power and speed For trained riders who often ride fast and want a firmer, more direct drivetrain suited to larger gears. 55/42 to 58/44 — TT and triathlon Specialist gearing designed to maintain an efficient chainline at very high speed. It requires power, an aerodynamic position and suitable terrain. 38 to 54T in 1x From versatile gravel to fast road. The correct choice depends mainly on cassette range, elevation and target cadence. Compare 50/34 and 52/36 Use the 12-speed gear calculator Round or Q-RingsShould you choose round or oval chainrings?
Round NOQ: familiar feel, simple setup, predictable behaviour and often the lowest weight. Oval Q-Rings: may smooth the dead spot and improve pedalling consistency for some riders. Road and climbing: oval rings are often appreciated during steady efforts, long climbs and triathlon. Sprinting and repeated accelerations: round rings often feel more natural to highly explosive riders. There is no universal answer. The advantage of the Aldhu Carbon platform is precisely that you can choose, test and later evolve the build without replacing the entire crankset.

Which Aldhu Carbon version is best for most riders? Spider Mount 12s is the most versatile because it offers the broadest gearing choice. Direct Mount is better when minimum weight is your absolute priority. INspider 2.0 becomes the strongest overall choice as soon as you want an integrated power meter. Is Aldhu Carbon INspider 2.0 dependable for everyday riding? Yes. The electronics are integrated and protected within the spider, with IP67 certification, a rechargeable battery rated for up to 350 hours and ANT+ / Bluetooth connectivity. Regular zero-offset calibration and correct installation are still recommended, as with any power meter. Does INspider 2.0 truly measure each leg separately? No. It measures total power at the spider and calculates an estimated left/right balance. Choose Rotor 2INpower for truly independent measurement of each leg. For training, pacing and fitness tracking, INspider already delivers a highly complete data set. Can I change chainrings later without replacing the crank arms? Yes. This is one of Rotor's main modular advantages. On Spider Mount and INspider builds, you can replace the chainrings while keeping the arms, axle and spider, provided the new rings match your drivetrain. What is the difference between Direct Mount and Spider Mount? Direct Mount uses a one-piece machined chainring assembly, which is generally lighter and very stiff but offered in fewer combinations. Spider Mount uses separate chainrings and therefore provides much greater freedom to change gearing. What is the smallest 2x gearing available? The 48/31 Direct Mount is the flagship climbing option in this category. It provides noticeably more margin than a 50/34 while keeping an outer ring large enough for versatile road use. How large can the chainrings be? The range reaches 58/44 in the 2x aero version and 54T in the Universal Tooth 1x version. Exact compatibility depends on crankset version, front derailleur, chain and frame clearance. Is the Aldhu Carbon 1x suitable for road use? Yes. With a 46 to 54T chainring and a suitable cassette, it creates a light, quiet and direct road setup. The 38 to 46T sizes are more oriented towards gravel or very hilly routes. Is Aldhu Carbon compatible with Shimano 12-speed? Yes. Several versions are supplied with chainrings specifically compatible with Shimano 12-speed. SRAM compatibility depends on the build: dedicated AXS rings on selected versions, or SRAM 11-speed compatibility on Direct Mount. Do I have to choose short crank arms? No. Lengths from 155 to 175 mm allow the crankset to match your body dimensions, position and cadence. A 165 mm crank is only one option; the right length depends on saddle height, mobility, discipline and riding habits. Which bottom bracket do I need? A bottom bracket compatible with a 30 mm axle. Solutions exist for the main frame standards. To avoid mistakes, send us the bike brand, model and year and we will identify the correct bottom bracket and any required spacers.
